What would you like SaCobra Gems to create for you?
An Ode to Craftsmanship
Hatton Garden is the quiet soul of London’s jewellery craft — a place where skill is inherited, not taught, and where every workshop carries the weight of generations. Behind unmarked doors, master jewellers shape metal and stone with a precision that has defined British craftsmanship for centuries.
It is a world built on trust, tradition, and quiet excellence. A place where artistry is still done by hand, and where every piece tells a story.
This is the heritage that inspires SaCobra Gems — jewellery created with intention, integrity, and the unmistakable touch of true Hatton Garden craftsmanship.
Whatever the design, we're here to help you take the first step with confidence.
-

The 4 C’s of Diamonds (Cut • Colour • Clarity • Carat)
1. Cut — The Sparkle Factor
The most important C. Cut determines how well a diamond handles light — its fire, brilliance, and scintillation. A perfectly cut diamond looks alive; a poorly cut one looks dull even if it’s high colour and clarity.
Grades: Excellent, Very Good, Good, Fair, Poor.
2. Colour — How White the Diamond Appears
Colour measures the presence of yellow or brown tint. The less colour, the more valuable.
Scale: D (colourless) → Z (light yellow). Luxury stones typically sit between D–F (colourless) or G–H (near colourless).
3. Clarity — Internal & External Purity
Clarity assesses inclusions (internal marks) and blemishes (surface marks). Fewer inclusions = rarer and more valuable.
Scale:
FL – Flawless
IF – Internally Flawless
VVS1 / VVS2 – Very, Very Slightly Included
VS1 / VS2 – Very Slightly Included
SI1 / SI2 – Slightly Included
I1 / I2 / I3 – Included
For jewellery photography and wow‑factor pieces, VS2 or better is ideal.
4. Carat — Weight, Not Size
Carat measures weight, not visual size. Two diamonds of the same carat can look different depending on cut proportions.
1.00ct = 0.2 grams Well‑cut stones look larger and brighter than deep or shallow cuts.

The 7C’s of Coloured Gemstones
1. Colour — The Soul of the Gem
The most important factor for coloured stones. Evaluates hue, tone, and saturation — the richness, depth, and vibrancy of the colour. Exceptional gems show pure, vivid, evenly distributed colour without zoning.
2. Clarity — Natural Fingerprint of the Stone
Assesses the presence of inclusions and surface features. Unlike diamonds, inclusions in coloured gems are often expected and can even enhance character (e.g., silk in sapphires). The key is transparency and whether inclusions affect beauty or durability.
3. Cut — How the Gem Comes Alive
Cut determines how the gem handles light, brilliance, and face‑up colour. A well‑executed cut maximises colour, hides inclusions, and gives the stone its personality. Shapes vary by gem type due to crystal structure.
4. Carat — Weight and Presence
Carat measures weight, but in coloured gemstones, face‑up size and colour intensity matter more than weight alone. Some gems (e.g., rubies, emeralds) become exponentially rarer as size increases.
5. Certified Report — Independent Verification
A gemmological certificate from a respected lab (GIA, AGL, GRS, SSEF, Gübelin) confirms:
identity
natural vs lab‑grown
treatments (heat, oil, diffusion, etc.)
origin (when determinable)
This protects both buyer and seller.
6. Confidence — Trust in the Seller
Represents the credibility, transparency, and ethics of the jeweller. Clients should feel assured about:
authenticity
treatment disclosure
fair pricing
return policies
aftercare
Confidence is a core pillar of luxury gemstone buying.
7. Character — The Gem’s Unique Personality
The intangible quality that makes a gemstone unforgettable. Character includes:
how the stone “speaks” through its colour
its inclusions as natural artistry
its cut style
its overall presence and emotional impact
Character is what transforms a gemstone from a commodity into a treasure
